Auburn basketball’s Aden Holloway named SEC Freshman of the Week

After the first week of the season, Auburn’s Aden Holloway is the year’s first winner of the SEC Freshman of the Week award, the league announced Monday.

Holloway played his first two collegiate games coming off an ankle injury picked up in a preseason scrimmage against Furman. He immediately made an impact.

He averaged 15 points over the first two games and 4.5 assists coming off the bench in both games.

His 3.00 assist-to-turnover ratio is fifth-best in the SEC.

Against Baylor, Holloway scored 19 points including making four 3-pointers along with six assists. Holloway has proven to be a great shooter throughout the preseason — something that was part of his scouting report as a highly-ranked recruit to Auburn.

Holloway, a former McDonald’s All-American, was a 5-star ranked recruit out of high school.
